How To Ingest Essential Oils
by Jodi McKenna
A random movie line stands out in my head.
“Pills are good.”
If only you could hear my inflection.
Some pills are good.
The majority of Young Living Essential Oils are GRAS (Generally Recommended As Safe). To find out which oils that are GRAS to ingest, please refer to the Essential Oil User’s Guide (produced by Young Living) that I have available to download on my website.
What Oils Can I Ingest?
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, let me repeat:
You can ONLY ingest Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils that are GRAS. At that, I will ONLY attest to Young Living Essential Oils. I will not vouch for any other oil except for olive oil and coconut oil. (If you are curious, I use Chaffin Family Orchards Olive Oil and Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil.)
Disclaimer: I am not a doctor or a naturopath or anyone like that. My suggestion to you is not approved by any government authority. I am just sharing with you what we do.
How to Build an Essential Oil Pill
I purchased some empty vegetable capsules from Amazon. I am sure your local Whole Foods or other crunchy store would have said item. They were only a few bucks for 250 of them.
Choose which TGEO you want to ingest. Thieves Oil is the most common oil that I stick in a pill, besides citrus fresh (which I use to eradicate cellulite).
Open the empty capsule and allow 1-3 drops of essential oil to fall. Close capsule and take with 8 ounces of filtered water.
Other Ways of Ingesting TGEO’s
- Dilute 1-3 drops of therapeutic grade essential oil in warm water with a spoon of raw honey.
- Place a drop of essential oil on a spoon of raw honey (this is how my boys like it best – why wouldn’t ya?)
- Drink it up with a glass of raw milk.
- Place in some tea.
- Some essential oils taste delicious in porridge.
- Lavender shortbread cookies
